Curvy beach babe Alessa Kokinos has scored the perfect
life at the Yucatán’s hottest island resort. She has a dream job caring for
ocean wildlife, and every spring, her best friend, Dante, returns to the island
as a surf instructor. The only thing that could make her happier would be if he
finally realized how much he means to her.
Dante isn’t the typical human Alessa believes him to be.
He’s a hippocampus, a water horse shifter from the Mediterranean. Each year,
his herd migrates back to the island to feed and bear their young in the
tranquil turquoise waters. There is no safer place in all the world for the
hippocampi – but for Dante, time is running out.

Author Note: Dante has never watched his friend Alessa
perform in the mermaid tank. In this scene, he arrives and realizes something
is changing about their relationship.

Desire hit me hard and fast, a sudden freight train sweeping
away my common sense and ability to reason.

Alessa is my friend, I repeated while approaching the glass
to stare at her. As I watched her perform for the crowd I couldn’t take my eyes
off her. She twisted and turned through the water, a beautiful sea nymph who
enchanted the younger viewers and enraptured the adult males.

I didn’t want them watching her. Hot jealousy washed through
me followed by the urge to charge all the leering men in the room. My wild,
animalistic instinct called for me to drive off the other male contenders. Only
then, could I dive into the tank to claim my mate.

Whoa. The reckless path my thoughts took made me step back. It’s
Alessa. This can’t be right. She’s a human.

It happened rarely among my kind, known occurrences of fated
mates happening so infrequently even we chalked it up as a fairy tale.

Making Waves
Hey, everyone, I’m Vivienne, or Vivi if you prefer. I’m
happy to answer your burning questions about my work.

Hello, Vivi!! It is great having you join us! How long have you been a writer and how did you come to
writing?
I’ve been writing professionally for about 3 years now.
Wow, that time has flown by. Before that, though, I would write for fun. Stuff
that should probably never see the light of day, if I could ever find it.

What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
The best is really getting to put my ideas and thoughts
out there in a tangible way. I get to share my stories and most of the time,
people to seem to love them. As for the worst, I’d have to say marketing. It
takes up a lot of time – time that I could be using to write instead of filling
out endless forms. A necessary evil, I’m afraid.
What inspires you to write?
Life. Things that have happened to me, whether with my
family, friends, or while attending school or work. I have friends, too, who
will tell me a funny story about what their significant other did. After we’re
done laughing I’ll ask if I can use that for a character.
How did you come up with this storyline?
You know what, I don’t remember exactly what inspired
Making Waves. I wanted to show more supernatural creatures in the world than
what you normally see, and I was bored with the usual bears and wolves. So I
got to thinking about mermaids and water horses, which led to a fun, beachy
read.

Eventually, I want to do an entire series of mythological
beings like unicorns and phoenixes.
How did you conduct your research for Making Waves?
I watched a few documentaries on deep sea research and
marine biology. One of my children is a Nat Geo lover, so we spent hours
watching videos about ocean life and the food chain. Between that and movies
like Happy Feet, I cobbled together my own ideas. By the way, if you’re a David
Tennant fan, I recommend Dolphins: Spy in the Pod. He narrates the entire thing
for the BBC and his voice is ear-sex.
What is one of your favorite funny scenes from Making
Waves?
In this scene, my heroine Alessa is convincing her boss
to expand the resort’s mermaid attraction by including men. I love this scene
because the resort owner is actually a dragon shifter, and they love money.
“If you really want to expand the attraction, you’ll have
Kekoa or one of the other hot guys squeezing into a tail. The ladies want
mermen. We want rippling abs and Adonis belts on display while hot guys perform
their best Michael Phelps impressions.”
Teo rubbed his chin, his eyes lighting up with interest.
Bingo. The girls were going to owe me for this one.
“Teo, do not listen to her. No one wants to see me in a
merman tail,” Kekoa disagreed.
“Rippling abs, Teo. Think of how Marcy loves to touch
yours. Think of the Return on Investment as needy women hemorrhage money to see
his pecs.”
I stole a glance at Kekoa to find him glowering at me.
“I win,” I mouthed to him.
No one could change a dragon’s mind once money was
involved.

Are reader reviews important to you?
Reviews are important to every author. Not just so we can
qualify for certain promotions or get better views on retailers, but because
they also help me improve. I will go through my bad reviews and make a serious
effort to improve where they say I’m weak.
What do you do when you don’t write?
What’s free time? Kidding.
I spend time with my kids, play with my pet menagerie (I
have two dogs, guinea pigs, a pair of geckos, and a conure who might as well be
a toddler), read, and play video games.
Tell us about your other books?
I started off with dragon shifters and they’ve quickly become
a beloved series. In fact, my newest title – Crush- released today (9/28).
Pssssst, go get it!!
I also have a trio of books featuring some sexy military
vets who are shifters in the same world as my dragons. Sometime this year I
hope to get the next Wild Ops novel written. It will feature Sasha, who is a
lioness shifter.
Also in the same world, I have werewolves, witches, and
other mythological creatures. You get to meet my hippocampi in Making Waves, as
well as a cameo from a dragon or two.
Thank you so
much for sticking with me. Readers really are why I write and publish. If you
want to know more about me and follow my books, you’re welcome to join my
readers group on Facebook – Vivienne’s Sirens.

Vivienne Savage is a resident of a small town in rural
Texas. While she isn’t concocting sexy ways for shapeshifters and humans to
find their match, she raises two children and works as a nurse in a rural
retirement home.

Legends, Mystery, And
Romance You’ll Want To Get Lost In
Demon hunter, Levi Walker eliminates the bastards using
divine weapons. One monster at a time until he tracks down the demonic filth
that killed his best friend. So when he finally corners the beast, it’s payback
time. But with the newest hunting recruit making an appearance and catching him
off guard—the same minx who broke his heart months earlier—the fight takes a
deadly twist. The demon targets Cary, but in Levi’s attempt to save her, they
both get marked for death.
Cary Stone’s secret will get her thrown into Hell faster
than a demon jacked up on virgin blood. Born a half-demon, she’s always
followed her father’s instruction—never get close to anyone, never stay too
long in one place, and always work alone. Except this past year, she’s managed
to break every single rule by getting a job hunting demons, falling insanely
for Levi, and getting them both on the hit list by the biggest mercenary in
Hell. But revealing her secret to Levi comes with the complication of him
attempting to exorcise her. Whichever way she turns, death awaits. All she
really wants is a normal life and a chance with Levi, but looks like that’s a
fantasy she’ll never have.
Warning: Super-sexy hunters, dominance & submissive
themes, and a terrifying hellhound named, Blinkie.

Steam poured out from the open shower door like smoke from
the fiery gates of Hell. She flapped her shirt with her free hand but it did
nothing to cool her down.

She stuck her hand with the tweezers through the open glass
door, mist everywhere. “If you got out of the shower, put some pants on, and
sat on the couch, I could easily remove those splinters.”

Warm, wet fingers banded around her wrist. Her head jerked
toward him, her eyes flying open.

Levi’s long hair was slicked off his face. His eyes were the
warm shade of brandy and seemed to strip her bare of her defenses. “The steam
will help get them out.”

The softness in his gaze weakened her resolve. Water sluiced
down his face, over his lips, dripping from his chin onto a sculptured chest
that called to her. An inferno swarmed her insides, and her gaze shot upward
toward his face.

Her attention dipped to the ink on his chest, just above his
heart, reminding her of a shield. The protective rune reduced the chance of
demons possessing him. It didn’t eliminate the possibility. Nothing did. But
the rune was like the rhythm method—it wouldn’t save him but it might help his
chances—even if just a bit.

The rounded Rune encased a flame with neither a beginning
nor end.

“It’s below my right shoulder.” His mouth curled upward with
a wicked expression. She shut her mouth tight or she’d be asking him to help
her undress. “The splinters,” he prompted.

Words tumbled free without her consent. “Sure… Umm… I mean,
let’s do it.”

He released her hand and turned away from her, but his wet
hair covered the flesh skin below his shoulders.

“You always had long hair?” She pushed the wet strands aside
and spotted two large splinters. Yep, he was telling the truth.

“My dad rarely got his hair cut, and I guess I got picked up
his habit.”

“Hmh.” Her gaze fell to his butt. Two dimples sat above his
firm ass and while her first reaction would have her reach out, grope him, and
lick the beads of water off his skin, she strangled the tweezers in her hand to
keep from reaching for them. Why was she torturing herself?

Studying the corded muscles in his back, she zeroed in on
the two shards of wood again. She placed a hand flat between his shoulder blades,
and scorching heat radiated from him.

Focus. Despite her shaky hand, she plucked them out. Blood
bubbled from the wounds.

“You’re done.” She only made it one quick step away from the
shower before Levi had turned around.
“Thanks.”

Silence floated between them with nothing but the sound of
running water. He wrapped an arm around her waist, drawing her against his wet
body. The moisture soaked through her clothes. Her mind emptied as his hardness
pressed against her, and her libido did somersaults. He withdrew the tweezers
from her clutched hand and set them down somewhere behind her.

“I wish you’d returned my calls,” he said.

Her response jammed somewhere between her toes and ears,
along with any rational thinking. Unless of course, someone considered ripping
their clothes off to jump a naked hunk reasonable behavior. Cary had lost focus
on anything but Levi’s body mashed against hers. His warm breath on her face.
The tightness of his grip around her hips. She felt tiny in his arms. Nothing
mattered right then. Not the demons, not her secret, not even making sense of
why Levi hugged her when she’d made it clear a relationships between them
couldn’t work.

Beneath his gaze, she melted. He offered her a temporary
fairytale escape. With his hand threading through her hair, drawing her closer,
every nerve in her body stood on end. She raised herself on tippy toes and
tilted her head back to reach his mouth. He leaned forward, his soft lips
grazing hers. Fire shot through her body.

“I saw you come in the bathroom before, spying on me.”

“What!?”

Demon’s Mark
It’s wonderful to be here, and
I’m super excited to chat with you. Can’t wait to see what questions you’ve got
lined up for me. Fire away.
How long have you been a writer, Tania, and how did
you come to writing?
While I’ve only been writing for about five
years, I like to think that a writer has always been living inside my head. I
grew up listening to bedtime Romanian stories that could only be compared to
the Brothers Grimm tales, and ever since then folklore and mythology has
fascinated me. I remember as a child, I enjoyed scribbling stories on pieces of
papers and on the inside of book covers. I even signed the books as if they
were my own. Let’s just say, my sister wasn’t impressed when she found her
books written on. It was years later when I fell ill with a horrible flu that I
pulled out my laptop out and decided to type up some of my ideas. And ever
since, I haven’t been able to stop
J
How did you come up with this storyline?
Well, funny story. I was going through this
phase of watching Supernatural and Dog the Bounty Hunter shows… addicted is a
better way to describe it, anyway, after getting my fix, a story came together
in my mind. A half-demon hiding in plain sight in the human world and working
alongside the country’s best demon hunter. What could possibly go wrong… right?
On another note, I went through another
phase of watching those b-grade snake movies too – Anaconda vs Python. But no
story has spawned from them yet!!
What are the best and the worst aspects of
writing?
I love hearing from readers what they
thought of my stories, if they’ve been touched by a scene, did they connect to
a character. The aspect of writing I adore is creating fictional worlds, and
then getting lost in them.
The hard part is stepping back from my
creative side and editing. Needs to be done because I’m a big believer that
great stories are rewritten during edits, but that ride sure is a bumpy one.
What inspires you to write?
The passion of delving into my imagination
and letting anything happen.
How did you conduct your research for Demon’s
Mark
Lots and lots of reading on the topics I’m
writing. Much of this was done online. So in Demon’s Mark, I did extensive
research on how priests exorcise possessions, understanding the hierarchy of
demons, what exactly are hellhounds and their abilities (You’ve want to meet
Blinkie in Demon’s Mark!!). I also watched lots of YouTube videos to really see
the streets of Detroit and Ann Arbor as I’ve never been there.
What are 3 of your favorite quotes from Demon’s
Mark?
Oh this is so hard…
Cary shifted in her seat, her insides
buzzing. “Thanks, but I only spank guys I’ll respect in the morning.”

Levi stepped closer, his eyes hooded. “You
might have just ruined me for any other girl.”

What did hellhounds snack on anyway—steaks,
rabbits, arms? But the real question was who had sent it?
More Favorites from Demon’s Mark:
“Because your Cary is a fantasy. She’s not
me. And you know nothing about the real me! Did you know that I hate cherries.
I always sleep with socks, even in summer. And I sponsor seven kids in
Bolivia.” A shiver rolled down her back, and she rubbed the goose bumps from
her arms. She locked her gaze with him and braced herself for his smart-ass
response.
What would your friends say is your best
quality?
Wild imagination + positiveness
Are reader reviews important to you?
Absolutely… I love hearing from readers and
seeing how my stories made them feel. How they interpreted the story and
characters.
What do you do when you don’t write?
I actually work as a social media manager
for a kitchen appliance company in Sydney, Australia
J
Tell us about your other books?
My Wulfkin Legacy series follows a band of
wolf shifters from Transylvania and their struggle to find their mates amid
secrets, danger and a power-hungry alpha who doesn’t care who he crushes to get
his way. The first story in the series, CLOAKED, begins with Daciana who leaves
the pack to live in the city and falls for a forbidden human detective. The
latest book in the series (#5) comes out December 2016 – Cloaked in Christmas.
And for readers who adore dragon-shifters,
then my story, FALLEN ASHES has just come out. It follows the story of Fallen,
the last dragon-shifter trying to escape capture by the Queen. But getting
herself magically bound to the Queen’s Guardian wasn’t on her to-do-list.
Neither was falling for him. But he has a hit list with Fallen’s name on it. And
if she dies, so does he. Along with the rest of the world.
If you could share one thing about yourself
that you would like readers to know what would it be?
I was born in Transylvania, and a lot of my
stories are based in Romania which is a country seeped in legends. I love
introducing readers to new locations and making them feel like they are discovering
new worlds.
It’s been a blast and
if anyone has any questions, be it about my stories, giant reptiles, or
Transylvania, please feel free to reach out to me at www.tfwalsh.com

Company Secrets
by
Xyla Turner
@xylaturner
Award-Winning
and
Int’l Bestselling Author

Jessica Cayman is an ambitious Account Executive for
Delancey, Inc. She stays in her lane, works hard and has her eyes set on
becoming a partner within the next year. The plan is easy until Sage Wesley,
III from The Company refuses to work with her.
His aversion to Jessica turns into a kiss that literally
has both of them off their feet. Floating in midair? Then a bite on her neck?

There are too many secrets and Jessica soon finds herself
in the middle of an old war between vampires and hunters all because of broken
treaties.

(Sage’s internal strength is wearing thin as he tries to
stay away from Jessica. However, he finds himself at her office and all bets
are off)

I slammed the door, stood there in front and took off my
gloves. If I had to have a lasting impression on my hands and body, it would be
hers.

“What are you doing here?” She turned at the slamming of the
door, then stood up.

“I had to see you.” I ground my teeth as I held back with a
serious amount of restraint.

“Are you alright?” She asked.

“No,” I growled. “I’m not alright.”

She rounded the desk and started walking towards me.

“Oh my God, what’s wrong?”

“Stop,” I snapped and held up my hand.

I was hanging on by a fucking thread. It felt like I had
been in the sun for hours and was about to combust. What was happening to me?

“What have you done?” I growled at her. “Ever since you came
around, I’ve been fucked up. Your scent…”

I stopped myself because she would think I was bat-shit
crazy. Well, I felt like I was going to be.

“What? Scent? Do you need me to call an ambulance?” She was
becoming frantic.

Her heart rate increased, and her brows came together in
confusion.

I took a deep breath in an attempt to gain my composure.
“No, I’m fine.”

She inched towards me again with one hand out.

“Sage, can I take a look at you? You don’t look good.”

She was so close her scent stung my nostrils, and if I had
tear ducts, they would have leaked. Her hand touched my face, and I knew that
presence would stay there for days.
Lifting my chin, I looked at her through
hooded eyes.

I could not help it. Shit, I did not want to help any of it.
Jessica was who I wanted, and that was that.

I grabbed her wrist and jerked her towards me. My lips
crashed down on hers and for a brief moment, she submitted to me and let me
take my fill of her. Her lips were soft, pliable and open for me. My hands
began to roam her body and landed on her ass so that I could feel that for
days. Her hands gripped both of my arms right before she abruptly pulled back.

Her fingers immediately went to touch her lips as those wide
dark eyes stared at me with shock, horror and surprise.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” She gasped.

Then without any warning at all, she smacked me right across
the face.

“I can’t believe you.” She looked at her hand, almost
surprised that she used it. “Oh my God.”

Company Secrets
Hey Everybody, my name is Xyla Turner and I’m a new romance
author who has decided to spread her wings in the many different genres that
I’ve grown to love. I’m so excited that you’ve taken the time to tune in about my
story that is included in the Dark Legends, this awesome, box set.

Hello, Xyla! You had me at mid-air sex scene! But, let’s get started. How long have you been a writer and how did you come to
writing?
            I’ve been
writing since I was a teenager but I finally published an inspirational and
children’s book in 2012. My first romance novel, The Chase, was published in
2015 and it was inspired through a bit of internal unrest. I was at a
crossroads in my life and didn’t know what to do. So, I decided to either write
about what I wanted for my life or sit and cry about it all. Thankfully, I
decided to write and four days later, fifty-five thousand words were written
and I haven’t stopped writing since.

How did you come up with this storyline?
            This
storyline was in connection with a collaboration with two awesome authors, Olivia
Gaines and Tiana Laveen. We had central connecting characters who were at the
same company but they were very strange and supernatural. My book, Broken
Treaty, features Sage, a one-hundred and thirty-year old vampire who meets a
woman, that is not from his tribe and she has him breaking all the rules. I
love when strong men are broken by the natural wiles of their true mate.

What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
The best aspects of writing include creating a new world
that you enter in and can build from scratch with your own ideas. The funny
part about that, is the characters have a mind of their own, so I guess it’s
not entirely your world. The worst aspects of writing for me is the aftermath.
After, I type “The End,” the hard work starts. Edits, edits and more edits.
Reading, reading and more reading, more edits, more drafts and the cycle seems
to never end. This work, for me, is tedious.

What inspires you to write?
Life! I need nothing but to walk down my street to think of
a story. My inspiration to write is really to get the stories and characters
out of my head. Tell their story, so that in some small way, so many of our own
stories are told. It’s something to read about a character that is ‘you’. I
love when readers can connect but I love when they say, ‘that is me.’ It
reminds us we’re not alone in the world.

How did you conduct your research for Broken Treaty?
This was my first paranormal romance, so I did a variety of
research including online searches, re-watching a few of my favorite vampire
movies again, checked out some paranormal books and asking readers their
thoughts about major changes to vampire’s stories. It was interesting that
readers were not open for alterations of the traditional vampire.
Name a Favorite from Broken Treaty:
Mid-air sex scene. Enough said. 🙂
What would your friends say is your best quality?
My friends think I have an active imagination, I’m a problem
solver and I have great ideas.
Are reader reviews important to you?
Oddly enough, reader’s reviews are important to me. As I
said before, I’m a fairly new author, so the more constructive feedback, the
better.

What do you do when you don’t write?
Usually, I hang out with my family, my nieces and nephews,
catch up on my television shows or do some sort of extreme sport.

Tell us about your other books?
Most of my other books are about alpha men and the sassy
women who tame them. They are diverse, sexy and for grown people. I’m starting
another series in another genre, New Adult, that will feature the collegiate
atmosphere but also incorporate sexy characters and the growing pains of

Literotica about Love, Sex, Hope, and Passion

Emily fell in love with Mariner’s Maiden Cove, an Island estate.
Beneath the pristine beauty, seduction hungered in the shadows created
by the flickering light…and dark past.

Emily Macque, a young, beautiful junior partner in her father’s law firm, is but a heartbeat away from love or destiny. Duty brings Emily to a frozen Island estate two hundred and fifty miles north of Chicago. Devotion requires she delve into the property history to settle an estate probate. Death lures her into the arms of the shadows seduction created by the flickering light and dark shadows.

What flames the timeless passions spanning the decades? Love, desire or obsession?

Colin Jorgenson, once a Great Lakes mariner, is a strong man haunted by love and loss. How long will he return each night, gripped by desire, hoping to find the woman he has loved for a century?

Beneath the pristine Island beauty, passions hungered, lingered in the ardent darkness. His passions, fueled by decades of loneliness and longing, could no longer be denied. Will they face eternity together or love in secret as dark things are to be loved between the shadows and the soul?

“The Dream”

She looked around the foyer, awestruck. The large ceremonial
foyer was big enough for use as a reception hall—perhaps it had been used as
such in the glory days of the Island. It was at least two stories high, built
of stone with exposed beams of timber and log, and large hand-hewn cross
trusses at the ceiling. It was rustic but grand at the same time. There were
three matching chandeliers of iron and crystal suspended from the massive trussed
ceiling. The floors were all of six-inch antique lumber, polished to a
brilliant shine in the setting sunlight. For its size, the massive foyer was
warm, surprisingly warm and cozy.

Emily felt quite welcome.

On the walls were wrought-iron fluted sconces matching the
chandeliers at equidistance throughout the hallway, lovely hand-woven
tapestries and paintings of some family members Emily recognized. But there
were also paintings of others she did not recognize. Hung in the parlor, over
the considerable stone fireplace where a fire blazed pleasantly and in full
view from the foyer, was the most prominent of paintings. Clearly, it had been
her uncle’s favorite.

The painting was of a voluptuous young beauty with long
auburn locks, tied loosely with a pale pink ribbon. Wisps of her hair escaped
the tether and fell rather seductively about her soft shapely shoulders and
around the tempting ivory flesh of her exposed bosom. She appeared to be
sitting quite privately by her vanity, tending to her feminine indulgences
perhaps applying oils and lotions to her pale, velvety skin. Draped in a pink
satin cloth or robe of sorts, she was not completely nude. She was an
extraordinary creature and, immediately, Emily thought of the Mariner’s Maiden.
There was such a likeness, but Emily thought that was quite an impossible
coincidence. She wondered whom this young woman was that held such a position
of importance in her uncle’s home. She also wondered if she had ever lived or
if she was still alive. Were they lovers? She was sure there would be much
about her uncle she would discover in the coming days and never grow to
understand. She was ashamed to admit to herself she was now more fascinated by
him in death. Emily was excited to discover more about him—and his life—now she
was here, than she had been while he was alive.

She looked closely at the painting and in faint letters it
read, “Amalya” at the bottom. She wondered if that was the beautiful woman or
the artist. Although quite taken with the portrait, she had satisfied some
measure of her curiosity for the day and, thinking of her father, snapped
around, squared her shoulders and settled into her uncle’s desk to begin work.
Opening her uncle’s file drawer in his desk, Emily felt intrusive. However, it
had to be done. The first file which caught her eye was one on Mariner’s
Maiden. She pulled it out, opened the cover and began to read. There were plat
maps, surveys, contracts of sale and purchase, title documents, recordings and
the usual. There was the technical history, but nothing of the emotional
history, which interested her most. Emily read on, as the file was very thick,
and perhaps there was more to come. She moved to the leather sofa in the
library in between the bookcases and across from the stone fireplace.

The original owner had built the house on five hundred acres
of land in the early 1800’s. The technical file was so thick because over the
years, as he aged and his family moved away, he had donated much of the land to
the town. The hours passed. She read until she fell asleep to the melodious
crackling sounds of the fire. Emily was nestled under the throw quite warm and
secure. And then, she dreamed…she was floating, soaring, drifting on silken
currents and airfoils of magic.

She felt as though she was flying, so light and airy, wispy,
so delicate. She could see the land from on high. She could see a young woman
with very long auburn hair being chased towards the house by a large male. He
was dressed in odd attire, with his pant legs tucked inside his high-topped
black polished boots. He was tall, but with his back to her, Emily could not
make out his face. His shoulders were broad and his waist narrowed, but flared
to thick muscular thighs that moved deliberately under tight leggings. He wore
a white billowy shirt, so very bright white, Emily had to squint to block the
glare and the scene was out of focus at all the edges. The woman was dressed in
a long blue skirt, to the ankles. A wide belt cinched her tiny waist, holding
her full white blouse tucked neatly in the band. Off both of her shoulders was
the top of the blouse and the sleeves were nipped tight at the wrist. She ran
quickly to the front door of the house, looking over her shoulder frequently.
The man, who had long masterful strides, easily caught her at the front
entrance to the house. Even though it was a dream, Emily felt her heart
pounding for the young girl in fear for her safety.

When the stranger grabbed her from behind at the grand oak
door, Emily held an involuntary breath anticipating the worst as the man
whipped the young woman around to face him. She laughed, loud and hearty, and
threw her arms around the laughing, breathless man. They faced one another, and
Emily could not make out their features, the glare from the white shirts was
still so blinding. The man ran his hand through her hair from her neck up to
the back of her head, grabbed a fistful of tousled auburn locks and pulled her
face gently towards his. He kissed her with such deep, passionate abandon,
Emily gasped. She awoke, abruptly but briefly, to realize she had been holding
her breath with a racing heart. Calming herself, breathing evenly, she closed
her eyes to return to the dream.

Emily slept again almost immediately.

The couple was inside the house. The man collected the young
woman in his arms in the foyer and carried her to the library. In one another’s
embrace, he took her to the couch, exactly where Emily now slept, and gently
placed her down onto the sofa. He lowered the top of her blouse further down
her bodice, exposing her breasts from an uplifting corset which barely covered
her nipples. As he bent to draw her breasts out of the confines and kiss each
one, Emily saw the young woman had put her arm over her eyes, so Emily still
could not see the fullness of her face. The man lovingly took each nipple, one
at a time, into his mouth while he twisted and pinched the other. Her areolas
responded by swelling and darkening around the hardened nipples. She moaned and
moved suggestively, openly welcoming further indulgences. He reveled in her
breasts, burying his face between them and licking the private spot of cleavage
reserved just for his attentions. The room smelled of lavender, Emily noted in
her dream. The young woman surely fancied the lavender fragrance in her evening
bathwater.

It was very stimulating and seemed so real to Emily. But was it?

Book: The Para-Portage of Emily
Thank
you so much for inviting me here today. You know, the longer and more that I do
interviews, it never gets easier to talk about myself. I think writers are
inherently private, why? I don’t know, because everything we write is revealing
in some way. But, I love talking about my books and characters, so I guess,
someday, I’ll get used to talking about myself too!
How long have you been a writer
and how did you come to writing?
In
many respects, I have written most of my life. I was in sales and marketing
before I retired and I had to write proposals, proformas,
presentations, contracts, and employee reviews so I had to have some
command of the English language. It was only after I started writing
provocative romance that I realized how little command I actually have!! But, I
started in earnest, writing stories and books, in 2010. My first story, The
Storm, was published in 2010 by Oysters & Chocolate, an online magazine now
defunct. The $10 I earned made me a pro, but just a writer, not an author! I
hope that isn’t a sign of things to come!
How did you come up with this
story?
I
wrote a very short workshop teaser, The Bath, for a group I am in in which the
woman bathing dozes and feels hands on her, soothing her tired muscles and
becoming more insistent, erotically. She gives herself over to the sensations
and then as she drains the tub thinks she sees a face in the water. It was the
beginning or a romance that spans a century about a seafaring man that keeps
returning to his home to try to find his beloved, Amalya who died in
childbirth. He mistakenly thinks that Emily, now in his home, is she. That is
how this all started and these two characters literally swept me away.

What are the best and the worst
aspects of writing?
As
always, the agony of a blank page and the ecstasy of two little words, “The
End”. In all fairness, writing is a solitary endeavor, so the loneliness gets
to me occasionally, but I have taken to the couch and write beside my husband
as he does his crossword puzzles and watches sports. And I have my characters
to keep me company.
What inspires you to write?
I
know writers always say ‘everything’ but for me, that really isn’t true. A
melody might, something that happened to me in my life, someone, or something I
saw. Once, on the day that JFK was assassinated, my Mother and I were shopping
in Paris. My Dad was an Air Force colonel and we were stationed there for three
years, but that is another story in and of itself! Anyway, I saw a man strike a
woman across the Champs Elysees in front of the Arc de Triomphe. The ‘City of
Love’ changed for me forever in that one moment. Things like that inspire me.
Politics, for example, do not — so everything is not inspiring to me. I
suspect, to sum it up, the human condition is fascinating to me; how people
treat and react to one another at their best and worst, is inspiring.
How did you conduct your research
for The Para-Portage of Emily?
Humm,
I really didn’t. This is another time when much of what I wrote, I lived. The
same is true of Moonbeams of Unintended Consequences, although not all,
for sure. But, the setting in The Para-Postage of Emily, is on an
island between Lake Michigan and Green Bay. For many years, my husband and I
lived on an Island in the middle between both of those bodies of water and the
ferry had to cross “Death’s Door, so named by the Indians because of the
treacherous currents. It is a small 36 square mile island settled by Nordic
settlers many generations ago so many of the current residents are related.
Small Island, big gossip! Anyway, we lived there for nearly 20 years. That is
where this story takes place, in a small part of my heart.
What are 3 of your favorite quotes
from The Para-Portage of Emily?
~
Will they face eternity together or love in secret as dark things are to be
loved between the shadows and the soul?
~
Death lures her into the arms of the shadows seduction created by the
flickering light and dark shadows.
~ And
the last is in the Epilogue spoken by Colin:
You’ll wake when the sun slices
through your window to kiss your cheek so fair,
I’ll be there beside you, as I
have year after year after year.
Our love is locked in passion
grown old along with us.
Our hearts are woven as
one—unbreakable—shored by love and trust.
We have faced each day together,
even triumphed before we’ve begun.
The battles we have faced and
fought are battles we have done and won.
If we should leave tomorrow, and
that tomorrow will surely come,
I’ll take with me your sorrow and
embrace you warmed by our morning sun.
And though we were so far apart,
by years and tears so cruel
You were always in my
heart. I was never meant to miss you.
Come with me, Amalya.

What would your friends say is
your best quality?
I am
a good friend; I think they would say. I hope they would anyway. I try to be
helpful and supportive. It is so hard to be a writer today. There are 55,000
new books published monthly. Anyone can write and publish a book. I can be very
discouraging for an author to be read and, as you know, promotion is time
consuming and exhausting leaving little time to do what you love. I try to do
whatever I can to help my friends. I try to be generous with my time and
whatever talent I possess that might be useful to them.
Are reader reviews important to
you?
Reader
reviews are very important to me. Positive reinforcement is essential to my
life-force. It is like getting all dressed up for a party looking your best,
and no one notices if I don’t get reviews. And it is crushing. You know,
shameless self-promotion only goes so far, and that’s usually with your family!
As in anything, word of mouth is the best form of advertising—and so it goes
with books. Oddly enough, while I don’t particularly care for average reviews,
they do not bother me. You cannot please everyone and one really never knows a
reader’s points of reference. Anyway, I am harder on my work than anyone else
could ever be.
What do you do when you don’t
write?
My
husband and I used to boat, but we lost interest when gas prices went so high.
We had a 28’ Grady White. Beautiful boat. But we could eat lobster every day
for what it cost us to go fishing in the Gulf a few times a month! That takes
all the fun out of a hobby. I walk a lot as, like Emily, I have a wee Havanese
dog of 12 fluffy pounds and I sew. I am also a licensed realtor, although I
have been ‘inactive’ for the last year making a heartfelt effort with my
writing. Come to think of it, I have done little else but write in the last
year!!
Tell us about your other books?
Thank
you for asking. I have several new books one released on Valentine’s Day
titled Consenting Heart: A Very Special Valentines. Order
here
. It includes elements of the day I met my husband but the rest is pure
sizzling fiction. Then I am contributing to a real scorcher, Alpha Fever:
22 Sizzling Contemporary and Paranormal Romance Stories. My story is about
a good neighbor order
here
. The Butterfly Collector, below, is a gift for your kind readers.
It has an interesting backdrop of BDSM. I am not  proficient in that genre
so it is mild, but still an interesting story I think about releasing ourselves
to the care and trust of another and how we blossom as a result of what we
learn about ourselves. The protagonist has a club foot, and yes, I once dated a
man with a club foot. As with most disabilities, visible or not, it is our own
feelings about it that are the most crippling. Another release was a fund
raiser I helped with for a friend that suffers from Ataxia, a neurological
disorder affecting voluntary coordination of muscle movements. I wrote an
inspirational piece about when I was raped and how we can overcome anything,
with the right help and desire. It is titled This Beautiful Escape. Order
Here
. All proceeds go to charity and you’ll learn a little more about
me and have loads of inspiring stories, poems, quotes and daily reads to perk
you up. I have thirteen or so books/anthologies published now so I can’t
talk about each of them, however, I love Moonbeams
of Unintended Consequences
as one of my favs and also, along
with Emily, I am writing a sequel for it. This is an interracial love
story about a famous opera star and a young beautiful designer. And yes, I did
‘know’ a celebrated opera star and the famous San Francisco Whitcomb Hotel does
exist. A fun release, written with my friend Chrissy Laurence, is titled Cheerleaders
in Heat
and that is a real 5 flame eroco-throbber. Fun and funny, but
serious, it exposes the underbelly of life in South Miami’s nightlife; there is
some violence that alters the course of my heroine’s life. Your
readers can check out all my books and add them to their Wish List on
my Amazon
Author Page
If you could share one thing
about yourself that you would like readers
to know what would it be?
I
never graduated from college. Most people do not know that about me and just
assume I did. While I would never want alter the course of my life, that is my
second greatest regret. But, I am happy with how my life has gone; I am wealthy
beyond money, I had a great career as a Regional Director with IBM when women
were just breaking the glass ceiling, and my life has been enriched by all
those that have touched me and continue to love me. I have a wonderful husband
who thinks it is funny I write ‘porn’ and a step-son who thinks I am awesome.
Could it get any better than that?
Well,
I suppose I should say “Good Bye” as I would hate to bore your readers into
thinking my books are equally tiresome! They are lovely. They are all a special
lot and I love each and every one of them. Read some of the reviews, speaking
of reviews. You are wonderful! It has been an honor to be here with you today.
I so appreciate your time and interest in sharing my work with your friends,
family and fans. Thank you for having me.

Reading The Para-Portage of Emily made me feel like I was reading Jane Austen or one of the Bronte sisters, if they had written erotic romances.
Wilson’s descriptive prose paints a scene like an artist paints a landscape.
The story itself is hauntingly beautiful, interspersed with passionate erotic scenes
that are done in a very romantic style with lots of description and emotion imbuing each one. I couldn’t help but feel a little sad while reading the story, because there is quite a bit of sadness as Emily learns about the tragically romantic past of the house she’s currently residing in,
but at the same time there’s a thread of hope as well. There’s also a mystery to be solved and little hints scatter the story, like breadcrumbs, until it all comes together in the end.
If you want a completely different kind of ghostly romance, and especially if you love histories and love that crosses all barriers of time, space and death, this is definitely a book you won’t want to miss. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever read, in a very good way.
~ By Lovemuffins

Should John Grisham and EL James have a secret love child, she would no doubt pen legal thrillers with a luscious layer of the erotic. They would name their child Muffy Wilson and send her to Stephen King for some pointers in the paranormal.
Wilson, in the obliquely titled “The Para-Portage of Emily”, interweaves these three diverse genres into a compelling, magic carpet of a novel that takes Emily Macque from Chicago to a bitter island estate two hundred miles north in the frozen sea. Emily is the striking junior partner in her father’s law firm, her mission, to settle the probate on an estate, her destiny to fall into the arms of Colin Jorgenson, a seaman haunted by a past love that torments his life.
Intelligent, well-written, with fully fleshed out characters and a story with more twists than a spiral staircase, “The Para-Portage of Emily” had me gripped until the very last page.
~ By Chloe

This is a story to savor. Ms. Wilson’s descriptions are poetic and enthralling,
placing the reader in the midst of the story, and the relaxed pace of the story does not lessen the power of suspense. Shrouded in mystery, romance, and eroticism, “The Para-Portage of Emily” is a treat for the senses,
a haunting indulgence. Despite hints throughout, the ending still surprised me, and though satisfied,

I regretted the literary journey’s end. Highly recommended. I look forward to more from this promising series.

I really enjoyed the Para-Portage of Emily… a skillfully
and imaginatively told tale of love, lost and found. Mysterious twists kept me
turning the pages until the end.

In the late 21st century, scientists created a serum that
gave every person nine lives, also known as souls. Flush with expendable life,
Earth collapsed into war and anarchy, leaving the Catholic Church to step in
and take control. In a world where the stealing of souls is big business, it
takes people like Constance Grace, detective in the Soul Theft Division, to
hunt the criminals down and strip them of their remaining souls.
When social-climbing con man, Noah Hannock, plunks himself on the church’s
radar, he becomes Constance’s problem. With a brand new partner, Mikon Cross
and seven of her nine given souls remaining, Connie has to enter high society
under a too-familiar alias to tempt Noah into her web.

While the chemistry between Connie and Mikon is scorching hot, the reality is
they don’t trust each other. Each with their own secrets to protect, the hunt
for Noah Hannock threatens them both. The only way they can survive is if they
learn to lay themselves, heart and souls, on the line for each other.

He watched as she pulled her unruly mane up into a messy bun
on top of her head. Every time he saw her do it, he couldn’t help but think it
was a move specifically designed by women to turn men on. The pale skin of her
delicate neck was now on full display, as were her toned shoulders and biceps.
Usually he liked his women soft, and while Connie did have softness here and
there, mostly she was made up of backbone, hard-toned muscles, and coffee.
“Stop being a creeper,” she said, breaking the spell.
He looked up. She was giving him a pointed look with an
eyebrow arched. Somehow he had forgotten himself and sat staring at her. Will
this night never end?
“Sorry, I was zoning out,” he said.
“Yeah, on my tits.”
“Really, I wasn’t staring at them. I was just thinking.”
“Uh-huh.”
There was no talking to her. He climbed up and went to his
own bed. She was right, but he wasn’t going to admit it. He’d have to hear
about it for the next year otherwise. “How are you feeling?” he asked after a
few moments of silence.
“Still a little messed up from the drug, but, not terrible,”
she said.
“That’s good.” He could tell she wasn’t saying it all
though. She sat on top of her comforter, shoulders slumped, as she rocked ever
so slightly back and forth. There was no way he could let her stay like that
all night. If she was to be tortured then he could at least bear some of the
burden.
He got up and walked over to her, moved behind her on the
bed, and circled his arms around her upper body. She didn’t move, didn’t even
breath, for a few seconds. It was a huge relief when she sagged into him,
allowing him to hug her more comfortably.
The intensity with which his heart leapt and battered
against his ribcage was astounding. If heaven and hell could merge it would
live in such a moment. Her scent engulfed him, consumed him, and made him think
of all the things he knew he shouldn’t. It was a shock when he realized she was
guarding her thoughts to him. Not effectively, but she was making an attempt to
ease his discomfort.
“Here,” he said, shifting his legs open so she could lean
back into him and stretch out as well.
Such an unlikely pair they made. Only having met a month ago
and now here they were in a gilded hotel room, holding each other gently. He
would never have imagined a moment like this between them when they first met.
Father Reynolds wouldn’t have either.
Constance turned to face him, and he watched helplessly as
she slipped her tongue out and wet her lips.
“I’m going to kiss you, Mikon, unless you stop me,” she
whispered, only inches away from his mouth.

Book: Soulless
Hello everyone, I’m so thrilled to be here. I can’t wait to
tell you about Soulless, which was previously published as Soulless. If I get
too excited and ramble please feel free to direct me back to the questions.

Hey, Monica! How long have you been a writer and how did you come to
writing?
I started writing when I was a little girl but didn’t start actively
writing looking to publish until my early 20’s. Almost six years now.

How did you come up with this storyline?
Well, like a lot of
my stories I get the main idea from a dream. But, it was after I watched a
movie about time…and how people’s timers were on their arms. That gave me the
idea for the souls to add into the world I had already built around the dream.

What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
The best
is interacting with readers. I love hearing about books and how much they loved
my work. Most of the time I assume I write books and no one ever reads them.
It’s nice when someone proves me wrong. The worst aspect is marketing. It’s not
something I have gotten figured out. It doesn’t help that I’m awkward as hell
though.

What inspires you to write?
Lots of things can inspire me to
write. Most of the time is a book, or movie, or watching a show about a
character who has reaching their goals…it makes me want to push toward my
own.

How did you conduct your research for Soulless?
I mostly had
to do a lot of research on the Catholic Church which was both frightening and
fascinating.

What are 3 of your favorite quotes from Soulless?
~ “He
watched as she pulled her unruly mane up into a messy bun on top of her head.
Every time he saw her do it, he couldn’t help but think it was a move
specifically designed by women to turn men on.”
~ “I’m going to pout now because I wasted a perfectly
beautiful dress on such a craptastic night…”
~ “If heaven and hell could merge it would live in such a
moment.”

What would your friends say is your best quality?
Oh
man…probably my loyalty. I am devoted to those I care about and would give
them anything in my power, including a kidney, to help them.

Are reader reviews important to you?
Um…I will say they
aren’t important to ME but they are important. I think when a book is done it
is no longer the writer’s…it belongs to the reader, as do reviews. Those
reviews aren’t for me, or about me, they are for the reader.

What do you do when you don’t write?
Uh read, a lot. I also
fix typewriters. I know, I’m a dork.
Tell us about your other books? I write mainly paranormal
romance with strong heroines and unique worlds. My other series, Revelations,
centers around female four horseman of the apocalypse.

If you could share one thing about yourself that you would
like readers to know what would it be?

I adore you. Even if you hate my work I
thank you for giving that time to read it. Thank you for giving it, and me, a
chance.

Thank you so much for having me and
listening to me ramble.
XOXO Monica

Int’l Bestselling Author

The Klints, a superior race in every way, long ago
decided to abolish natural birthing; over the last millenniums, every child had
been engineered, created, designed; but things went wrong, hence their need for
human breeders.
Lena’s life might have changed since their invasion, but
she’s not particularly affected by their presence on a daily basis, until the
day they find out that she’s a hundred percent compatible to the emperor of the
entire galaxy.
Her job was simple. She was supposed to give birth to his
heir and disappear.
But then, someone threatens that child.

It wasn’t the first time that he wondered whether the human
race in its entirety had simply lost their damn mind; or they could be
suicidal. He wasn’t ruling out option two.
However, right this moment, Jaycn didn’t give a rat’s ass
about the fate of the race which had openly declared war on the most powerful
family in the galaxy.
Well, that wasn’t exactly true. There were two humans he
very much cared to locate.
Or rather, one human and a halfling.
Shooting another Dissenter right between the eyes, wishing
the bullets were set to kill, Jaycn ran forth, heading in the direction
everyone else was leaving.

Where were they?
Falcon speaking, he heard in his mind. Great, just what he
needed right about now.
Calden was short tempered at the best of times. Today? He
was likely to bathe in the blood of his enemies for fun. No, no. Quite
literally.
I have a location on sparrow. He’s two floors down, in the
ventilation system. Alive. Keep it that way, cousin.
The communication stopped abruptly. Right, no pressure. He
was supposed to find a kid somewhere inside a tiny ventilation system no grown
male could hope to wiggle into, and if he didn’t, his favorite relative was
likely to bathe in his blood.
Another explosion resounded, too close for comfort. Shit.
The humans were too well informed and well equipped to work
on their own; there was about a ninety percent chance that they had a traitor
in their rank. How, otherwise, might the Dissenters have heard of a random,
unplanned visit?
As Earth had no ambassador, it was still under the direct
supervision of the Emperor, which gave Calden an excuse to turn up at least once
a year. This time, no one had been told until the very last minute, yet here
they were. Under attack.
As the assault had started in the west wing, the target had
been evident.
They wanted to hurt the child, hence Jaycn’s conclusion: the
humans were freaking suicidal.
Thankfully for everyone involved, the child had made it so
far.
The next explosion propelled Jaycn ten feet backwards and if
he wasn’t mistaken, that smell meant he probably didn’t look all that good
right about now.
Goddess, he hated getting burnt, but it wouldn’t be the
first or the last time.
Jaycn, retreat to base. There’s a transport on the roof.
The curt order surprised him; sure, he wasn’t in best shape,
but he hadn’t thought that Calden would have cared.
Well, rather – he hadn’t thought that Calden would have
cared about his welfare as much as he cared about getting his son back.
That wasn’t a suggestion, General.
Yeah, well then, he was going to have to be insubordinate,
wasn’t he?
Because Jaycn couldn’t leave the boy.
Contrarily to the human Dissenters, he wasn’t suicidal and
there was someone much, much more frightening than Calden who would cut off his
balls if Alek didn’t make it out in one piece.
Without being scared.
Or scratched.
Or crying.
Shit, he should have brought a lollipop.
I’m not leaving him. Where is he now?
There was a long pause, followed by a sigh.
One floor down. I can’t see him, but his chip is still in
the ventilation.
Got it.
Well, he thought he had got it, until the building started
collapsing; he could feel the upper floors sliding, slowly. Or pretty damn
quickly, but adrenaline was a wondrous thing.
Shit.
Jaycn concentrated as hard as he possibly could, and by some
sort of miracle, managed to summon a grappling hook and a thin rope.
His microchip, like most of the latest ones, was fitted with
a designing program, but getting anything done took a lot of willpower; in a
normal mind frame, he wouldn’t have had a chance – but as he mentioned before,
adrenaline rocked.
He threw the hook at a part of the building that seemed
intact, and jumped.
He’d just managed to lift himself up on the floor when the
headlight of a speeder blinded him.
Jaycn rose to a crouch, alerted, until he recognized the
pilot.
Calden.
He’d never been quite so happy to see his cousin’s too
perfect, too serious face in his lifetime.
A side door lifted, and the speeder approached, close enough
for him to hop in.
Jaycn grunted, as every bone in his body begged for mercy.
“Let’s not do that again.”
“Take the commands,” Calden ordered, removing his long
formal jacket, and taking various tools from a supply cabinet.
Oh, no.
“Cal, you can’t go out there, you’re the…”
“One word and I rip your tongue out. My son is out there.
Alive.”
Which was a miracle in itself.
How the fuck had the kid managed to make it so far? He was
smart, no doubt about it, but he was also seven years old – and let’s not
forget that the humans had obviously been after him.
“Then let me go.”
“You aren’t in optimal condition. If I don’t make it, do me
a favor. Tell Lena…”
The Klints turned, weapons in hand, as they felt someone
jump inside the open door.
Then, both of them breathed out freely for the first time
within the last hour.
“Tell me what?”
Lena, damn her, was dangling from her own rope – a stylish
silver and blue chain.
She wore the Elite dress she’d been wrapped in during the
meeting, but she’d cut a slit along her long legs; they could see her trademark
black running pants underneath. As per usual, she’d been prepared for all
eventualities. Her red hair was still elegantly knotted around her face; there
wasn’t a strand out of place.

That woman was going to kill them some day, and she’d do it
without breaking a sweat.

Book:
Blue Blood
Hi guys! Thanks for reading my interview. So I’m May, and I
love writing and devouring romance of every shades, especially if it involves
swoonworthy guys and sassy girls.

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to
writing?

Well, back when I was about seven, an unwise teacher said something
she probably never, ever said again in her career: write as much as you want.
The project was re-writing a really cool story. Twelve pages later, I realized
that it was my calling.

How did you come up with this storyline?
Blue Blood is a bit
of a funny one. I started it after reading a dozen of sci-fi romance. After
number twelve, I was seriously exasperated. Every single one of them – and I do
mean, every one – featured a weak, desperate distressing damsel. So I wrote
part one, Rise (and chose this title) to show that woman can kick ass, even
against super-hot aliens 😉

What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
The best
is losing myself in my stories. I can look at the time after what feels like
minutes and it would be nighttime. The very worst thing about it, though, is
when the words just won’t come. It happens to all of us; we’re just human.

What inspires you to write?
Just about everything and
anything, good and bad, can be an inspiration. For example, a fellow author and
friend of mine was confessing that she’d been writing naughty scenes at work,
and was embarrassed by it… BOOM! One idea came to me for a book, and Shy Girls
Write it Better was born 😀

How did you conduct your research for Blue Blood?
I am a
geek. Like the kind of geek who can paraphrase the elvish parts in Lord of the
Ring, who has read the majority of the Star Wars books and know just about
every marvel characters. Imagining a story happening in space was as natural as
writing about my day to day life… but all that being said, I still researched
plenty, mostly military things and buildings around San Francisco. Sometimes,
when I can I travel to the place where I set my books, but this time, Wikipedia
was my best friend.

What are 3 of your favorite quotes from Blue Blood
Hard
one! Well, the number one probably is: “It might be stupid to believe a guy
because he was good looking, but well, women had done it for thousands of years
and the human species had made it so far.” Then, “Someone had to go and tell
her she was supposed to be human.” And finally, that one made me laugh out loud
when I wrote it, although it’s pretty simple. “Dude, did you actually say
wench?”

What would your friends say is your best quality?
I’m the
one people go to when they have a problem – give me about two minutes and I
would have a solution, with a graph and a three step plan.

Are reader reviews important to you?
God yes. Honestly, I am
so insecure about whether my stories are good up until I read the various
opinions on them. I read each and every one of them, although sometimes callous
reviews hurt my feelings. It only hurt because I care.

What do you do when you don’t write?
I walk my German
Shepherd puppy (a lot) and cuddle my black cat. I read books (about ten hours a
day 😀 ) and I cook yummy food. God, I need to get out more!

Tell us about your other books?
Well, I love writing
romance; that’s at the heart of each and every one of my stories. Little Morning
Star, my longest, most complex one, is an Urban Fantasy staring a witch,
angels, hellhounds and other demons. I’m known for my fairy tales, and they are
a blast to write – full of humor and smexy stuff! Then, I also write a few
contemporary romance, like Shy Girls Write It Better (the one inspired by Erin)
and some paranormal romance (werewolf, vampires…)
Yes. I have a lot of books!

If you could share one thing about yourself that you would
like readers to know what would it be?

The fact that you read all this means
that you love and respect our profession, and I want you to know that we
appreciate you. It’s a difficult job, and a very lonely one, but you are the
reason we all manage it.

On that note, thank you for taking the
time to read more about me. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with any kind of
question or comment – I’m all over the place, but mostly, I’m available on Facebook. Enjoy our box set!

Once Upon A Time, there was a little girl who just loved
telling her own stories. Fast forward about two decades? Not a lot of change,
there.

My mother’s collection of novels extends to three rooms, the
stepfather who raised me writes awesome short stories: really, I didn’t have a
choice, I caught a bug.

I dabble in anything, Fantasy, Contemporary… Really, the
subject doesn’t matter. The gist of it is: I will make you laugh, and I will
make you want more 🙂

Mikhail Anton Ray: I needed her to fulfill my destiny but
she became my life
Leana Iyeroy: I’ll never submit to a vampire or another
shifter – but he is so much more than either.
Micah must mate with wolf-shifter Leana to harness their
collective energies, and overcome the vampire built mind-net that has
infiltrated the humans robbing them of their emotions. But when Leana’s ward is
kidnapped and used against them, the future of humanity is at stake.

Mikhail looks at the
shifter girl as she passes by him, so close that if he put out his hand he can
touch her cheek. Touch that skin shining with sweat, and pale under her tan as
if it’s taking all she has just to keep the pain at bay.

She adjusts the strap of the scabbard that crosses between
her breasts, and his eyes fall on the rise-fall-rise of her chest. Over the
swell of the vest that stretches tight across, outlining her nipples.

And despite the fact that she doesn’t even notice him,
despite the fact that he’s surrounded by jostling crowds, Mikhail finds himself
aroused.

Heat twists his gut with such suddenness that he gasps.

It’s the second time he’s surprised himself in the space of
an hour. The first was when he’d seen the girl fall to the ground in the cage…
and not move.

He was sure she’d be up on her feet and downing her sword at
the brute hybrid coming at her, but she hadn’t.

She’d just lain there still, so still he’d been sure she had
been hurt badly or worse that she’d been killed. And before he could stop
himself, before he’d even known what he’d been doing he’d run through the
crowd, breaking through to the front and then he’d felled the guard at the
entrance to the cage with one blow. Had taken the keys from him, unlocked the
gate, slammed it behind him and had run towards the fallen figure all in a
matter of seconds.

As he’d leant over her she’d moaned and something tightly
clenched inside him had relaxed.

She was alive.

Book:
Redemption
Hello from London 🙂

Hello and welcome, Laxmi; so nice to have you here. How long have you been a writer and how did you come to
writing?
I’ve been writing since very young and with intent from
2003. Published my first book in 2011

How did you come up with this storyline?
I wanted to write a paranormal story with a difference. Set
in a futuristic Bombay where I grew up, dystopian, yet intense and romantic.
Borrowing from the threads of Indian mythology yet spanning both Eastern and
Western cultures.

What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
Writing helps me plumb the depths of my consciousness. By
understanding character motivations I understand my own.

What inspires you to write?
The ‘aha’ moment from breaking a character and rebuilding
him or her back and understanding why they do what they do. And hence understanding
why I do what I do in life.

How did you conduct your research for Redemption?
I look for the key emotion that will be the theme of the
book. In this case it was Leana and Mikhail finding Redemption. Leana putting
an end to the cycle or the curse that has plagued her ancestral line for
centuries.

What are 3 of your favorite quotes from Redemption?
Opening of Redemption is my fave: One of us is going to die.
He looks at me, the beast. Wolf. Man. Wolf?
He’s both. He’s neither. He’s just like me.
More Favorites from Redemption:
I’ll give you a poem from Feral, the first book in this
series for the main character of Feral and later Taken is a soldier poet You
are the only person I wish
I had never met. I suspect if you knew
you might have more respect for me now
than you did then.
So strike a fracture through this
glass this view this thing that shimmers
like doubt between us, break it apart
with your hands.
What would your friends say is your best quality?
My persistence

Are reader reviews important to you?
Yes they are hugely important in discoverability especially
on Amazon. But I am too scared to look at them. I don’t want to get too
demotivated by the not great ones or too affected by praise either. So instead
I look for feedback from my beta readers who are amazing.

What do you do when you don’t write?
I like to be active – work out, yoga, walking in London and
gardening and spending time with my film maker husband watching films and
series.
Tell us about your other books?
Feral the first in the Many Lives Series is my favorite.
About Maya a wolf girl who leaves her mate Luke to go in search of her blood
family. Only to uncover secrets.
If you could share one thing about yourself that you would
like readers to know what would it be?
That I hope my words will move them and help them understand
themselves better. That I hope they will see a bit of themselves in my
characters.

I hope you’ll read Feral the first book in this series. If
you join my newsletter you’ll get Feral for free.

Ryan Blackwell thought to escape his magic by burying himself in the military college at Northshield, Vermont.

But Northshield University has a secret: a nexus of magical power that people will kill to possess.

Hiding his power becomes impossible. Instead, he finds himself in the midst of a deeper and more dangerous sorcery than he has ever encountered before.

Things spiral out of control, and soon only Ryan’s wit, will, and the talent he once hoped to leave behind stand between a nightmarish creature and everything he cares for.

There is more to Ryan than meets the eye. But even with the powers he controls, can he stand against this darkness, or will it swallow him whole?

CORPORAL
BERSETO pounded on my door that night. I was half expecting something to
happen, so I hadn’t been sleeping well anyway. I popped out of bed, hit the
floor and started slipping sweats and sneakers on as he entered the room.
“Drill
Sergeant wants to see you, Blackwell,” he said, then ducked back out into the
hall.
“Be right
there,” I replied. I tied the second shoe and stood up.
Berseto
was nowhere to be seen when I got to the hall. I crossed and knocked on
Fletcher’s door, but got no answer. I knocked again, louder. Still nothing.
Well, he had asked for me, and I was starting to get nervous. I took the knob
in my hand and tried to turn it. Unlocked. I opened the door and peered into
the room.
The lights
were all out. I could see someone sitting on the bed in the gloom, but that was
about it. “Drill Sergeant? You OK?” I asked, reaching toward the light switch.
“No
lights,” he said.
“OK” I
retrieved my hand and stepped in, leaving the door open a crack for some light.
“You called for me?”
He sighed,
then seemed to shake himself a bit. “Close the door,” he said, turning on a
small bedside lamp. I thought I could hear a little bit of a slur in his s. Had
he been drinking?
I looked
him over as I shut the door and stepped nearer. He was sitting on the bed, both
feet planted to the floor. Dressed in civilian clothes, sneakers – so he’d been
out somewhere, most likely. His face was down, only partly visible to me, but
he looked pale, very pale. His hands were shaking.
“What
happened?” I asked, keeping my voice soft.
“We have
parties in the wood line, you know. The upperclassman do,” he said, looking up
at me. “Something we do.” I could smell beer on his breath now. Northshield was
a dry campus – no alcohol allowed. But it was no surprise that the older cadets
had found ways around that. I nodded.
“I was out
there, hanging. Been a tough week. Wanted to kick back. Good way to do it.”
I nodded
again. He was rambling, but I wanted to let him talk this out, so I kept quiet.
“We had a
little fire. Nothing big. Staff doesn’t pay attention to what we do out that
way, down by the river.” He drifted off into silence.
“So what
happened there?”
“I went to
take a leak in the woods, away from the fire. I stepped out far enough to be in
the dark, and took care of things. Turned around to head back, but… I
couldn’t go. I couldn’t move. Felt it out there, watching me. Hungry for me.”
A chill
rolled down my back. “Hungry for you?” I whispered.
“Hungry,”
he repeated. “I couldn’t move, and I could feel it slipping closer. Couldn’t see
it, but I could feel it rolling in nearer.”
I
remembered every moment of my experience earlier that day in vivid detail.
“Then I
saw it.”
I blinked,
looked at him again. “You saw it?” I asked. He shouldn’t have seen a spirit
being unless it had somehow covered itself with something solid. Or unless he
had Sight himself, which I was pretty sure he didn’t.
He nodded.
“It rose out of the brush in front of me, all inky black. I could see it by
where it blotted out the campus lights behind it, and where it blocked the
stars as it rose above me. I felt like a mouse in front of a cobra. Then I
managed to scream, and ran back to the fire.”
He took a
deep breath. “The guys razzed me about the scream, asked if I’d run into a
man-eating raccoon. I was too shook up, they were too drunk. Didn’t know how to
explain what I saw, so I stood there by the fire for a long time, hoping it
wouldn’t come near. It didn’t.”
“So then
you came back here?”
He nodded.
“Yeah, couple of the guys were coming back to barracks, so I walked with them.
Strength in numbers, right?”
I wasn’t
sure numbers would really help. This thing had made itself visible, not as a
wind or even as a fire, but as something else. I didn’t know what. But if it
was able to be seen physically, I was pretty sure that meant it was incredibly
powerful and incredibly dangerous.
“Drill
Sergeant,” I said. “We need to get down there, get those people out of there.
We’ve got to get them back into barracks. They’re not safe. How many people
were at the fire when you left?”
“Maybe a
dozen?” he said.
Might be
enough to give it pause, I thought. But maybe not, too. “Come on,” I said.
“show me where. We’ll think of something to get them back to bed.”
“They’ll
be fine, Blackwell. Let it be.”
“With that
thing still out there? They’ll be tasty treats.”
“I don’t
know if I can go back out there,” he said.
“Listen, I
ran into something earlier. Sounds like the same thing you saw, and it almost
ate me, too. But I beat it. We need to stop this thing.”
Fletcher
looked up at me then. “Why didn’t you say something?”
“Because I
thought it was just after me. But it’s not – it sounds like it’s just hungry
and looking for a snack. Which those drunk kids are going to give it if we
don’t hurry.”
He got up.
Once he was moving, a little determination seemed to go a long way. He was
getting some color back, and looking more sure of himself. For that, if nothing
else, getting him to help was a good idea. And he’d seen this thing once and
yanked himself away. I knew from experience how hard that was. Fletcher might
be a bigger help than I’d guessed.
We went to
a light jog when we hit the hallway, and moved down the stairs at speed. Not
recklessly fast, but a taking two at a time in a steady pace. We were side by
side when we reached the bottom, neither of us winded. Some advantage to all
the PT. The doors out onto the parade ground were double, and we each hit one,
still moving fast.
Neither of
us were really in a hurry to see this thing again, but I didn’t know how much
time we had. We’d barely taken three steps from the building when that question
was answered – not enough.
Gunshots
thundered in the darkness, coming from a ways away. I counted six shots, then
nothing.

“Those
were from the woods around the party,” Fletcher said. “Come on!” He took off in
a sprint, and I picked up the pace to follow him. As I ran, I reached out,
drawing magic into me.

Book:
By Darkness Revealed
Hi and hello! Very excited to be here with you today. For
those who don’t know me yet, I’m a Boston writer of science fiction and
fantasy. I’m an amateur astrophysicist and play with swords in my spare time as
well, so my hobbies line up really well with my line of work. When I’m not
hitting friends with sticks, I might also be sailing. Or writing. More often
the latter than the former, but I enjoy both.

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to
writing?
I came by writing naturally: my mother made me do it. No,
not quite! As a kid I used to fall asleep listening to my mom writing fiction
at her typewriter, tack-tack-tacking away while listening to some movie
soundtrack or another. Taking up the craft was so natural that I wrote my first
short story at age 7. It took second place in a local writing competition. I’ve
pretty much been involved in telling stories in one format or another ever
since.

How did you come up with this storyline?
By Darkness Revealed is close to my heart, because it’s
personal. I went to Norwich University as a cadet – that’s the well I drew from
to paint a good picture of cadet life for the protagonist. Obviously the
‘Northshield University’ in the story is a fictional place, but much of the
feel I captured in the story was drawn from the real college. As for the
storyline itself? Again, a lot of it is drawn from reality. No, people were not
actually slinging bolts of magical energy around campus (not that I was aware
of, anyway!), but the real world Norwich is an unusual place with all sorts of
magical legends and tales.

What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
For me the best part is telling the story, hands down. When
I get into a really good flow state, I might be typing as much as three
thousand words an hour. Just letting the story spill forth onto the screen.
Those moments are a bit like singing, or dancing, or sailing, or martial arts
forms… It’s like meditation where the mind is active and burning at full speed.
Where you have complete focus on the task and everything is moving in
synchronicity.

The worst part? Edits. We hates them, my precious. When I’m
done telling the story, I am *done* telling the story. I don’t really want to
read it over for errors and nit-picking bits. I do, of course. And I have a
great editor who finds what I miss. But this is my least favorite part.

What inspires you to write?
I like telling stories. I really like telling stories for a
living. I really, REALLY like running my own business telling stories for a
living. There’s no other career out there which I get as much satisfaction
from, where I feel so complete working. If I wasn’t writing fiction, perhaps
I’d be making up stories for film or for video games or something else
entirely… For me the telling of exciting stories is more central than the
medium I use.
How did you conduct your research for By Darkness Revealed?
I cheated. I do this often.

Writers have two choices when it comes to research. They can
set a story someplace they have never been, in a land or culture they don’t
know at all – and then have to research the heck out of it. Or we can write a
story set someplace we either know really well, or which we are making up
entirely. Or both. For this book I did both. I set the book at a fictional
university in a fictional town, and then painted the fictional place with
real-world experiences from a similar place.

So, I cheated. No research. Zip. This is how I write most of
my books, actually.

What is your favorite quotes from By Darkness Revealed?
One of my favorite elements created just for By Darkness
Revealed is Kittybreeze. She’s a little air spirit with very feline traits.
When I was young, someone wrote a wonderful short story for Dragon Magazine
that I adored about an old wind mage who was looking for an apprentice. The
girl – who ended up getting the job – was overjoyed by the cute “puppy breeze”
that the air mage had as a pet/servant. The boy scoffed, saying that must be
the least of the spirits the master controlled. The master replied that
sometimes you need to measure worth not in terms of power, but instead with regard
to faithfulness, trust, and long years of loyal service.
I loved that story. Still do. Kittybreeze is something of an
homage to that author. (I just looked up the piece. It was “Master of the
Winds” by Sharon Lee, back in Dragon Magazine #84.)

What would your friends say is your best quality?
I would not presume to ask. I’m rather blessed with a few
very good friends. I like to think that I add as much value to their lives as
they do to mine. Being a friend is a give and take sort of thing.

Are reader reviews important to you?
Is this a trick question? *chuckle* If I say no, then I
encourage no one to ever review me. If I say yes, then I am paying too much
attention to them…

I read every review of every book I have out. I listen for
comments about what people liked, and what they did not. I strive to use my
reviews as a tool to grow and learn from. I do not generally respond to reviews
directly, but rest assured I read them all. Even the harsh ones! Because there
is certainly something to learn there as well, even if the lesson was simply
that *that* book did not reach *that* reader in a pleasing manner.

As writers, when we stop learning and growing and improving,
it’s time to hang up the keyboard. Reviews are one such tool for growth.
What do you do when you don’t write?
What is this “don’t write” thing of which you speak? *laugh*
I write almost every day. I’ll cross half a million words of new fiction this
year. A little secret? (Whispers:) I’m shooting for a million next year!
I love taking long walks through Boston with my fiancee as
well. It’s not unusual for us to walk five miles on a nice day, sometimes as
much as ten. Just exploring, seeing the city, the people, the places. Boston is
always in a constant process of endless change. It’s fascinating.

I fight with swords – steel and rattan alike. In armor,
thanks. It’s my current martial art; I’ve done a few other martial arts in the
past, but lately I am finding it harder to keep even this one up. I spend time
with my children, who are growing bigger and older each year. I want to make as
many memories with them as I can, so I will have things to cherish as they
outgrow their youth, although hopefully not their childhood.

Tell us about your other books?
The Blackwell Magic books are six titles so far. There may
be more books about Ryan Blackwell coming in the future, but for now I think
the series may rest a bit. I’ve also written three novellas called in a mini-series
called “Raven’s Heart” set in the same universe. I have the rough outline of an
epic fantasy series as well. If it comes to be, then it will very much interest
Blackwell fans.

I’ve also written a few science fiction books – four so far
in the “Adventures of the Starship Satori” series, and two in the “Accord”
series – “Accord of Honor” and “Accord of Mars”. I tend to write
science fiction set in the near future, using technology and society just
beyond where we are today. “Over the Moon” is a science fiction romance which
could take place just five years or so from now. Perhaps ten.

If you could share one thing about yourself that you would
like readers to know what would it be?
C.S. Lewis once said “Since it is so likely that (children)
will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and
heroic courage. Otherwise you are making their destiny not brighter but
darker.”
I believe that same sentiment applies equally to grownups.
We hear so much about the darkness of the world, these days.
We read about the cruel. We see videos of the unjust. We are deluged with
stories of the most horrific elements of human nature. But that is *not* all
that humanity is and can be. I write stories about people who have failings,
and make mistakes. Yet at the end of the day they strive to overcome those
things and act in a heroic manner. To show the best part of what it is to be
human. My heroes are there to shine light on our better natures, and to give us
all hope that we can be better than we are.
Thanks for having me! This has been fun. I hope readers
enjoy the boxed set enormously. If anyone has questions about my work, please
do drop me a message via email. I don’t always answer right away, but I *do*
answer every fan email that I get personally. (Kevins.studio@gmail.com)

Thank you for believing in us enough to stick with this
whole interview!

Above all else, thank you for reading. At the end of the
day, readers are why we write.
